What is palliative radiation?
There are two types of radiation, definitive and palliative. Palliative is mainly used for pain management, especially in cases of osteocarcinoma, or bone cancer. It can also be used in soft tissue to help slow down growth. The costs are high for a full course of definitive radiation — usually between $5,000 and $7,000. Palliative treatment runs $1,500 to $2,000. How can we tell if our animals are in pain? Pain is obvious when pets whine or cry out. Trembling in muscles and panting can also be signs of discomfort.
