What is overquoting?
• Quoting 100% of someone else’s message when you reply to it. • Quoting more text than you write in reply to it. • Quoting more than 2-4 paragraphs of a document (a newspaper article, for example) that is available in full on the web. • Quoting someone’s signature. • Quoting the mailing list’s footer. • Quoting more than the “From” and “Date” information from the headers of a list message, or more than the “From,” “Date,” “To/Newsgroup/URL,” and “Subject” headers of a message quoted from a source outside of the mailing list.
