Both breast and ovarian cancer may have similar risk factors. They are both associated with older age and positive family history, early menarche, late menopause, and childbearing relatively late in life. The same genes, BRCA1 and BRCA2, that can cause breast cancer in a small percentage of women can also cause ovarian cancer in a small percentage of women.
