What is Outlook Web Access (OWA)?
OWA is an internet (browser) based version of MS Outlook to access your mailbox. It is similar to the non-browser (client) version. OWA offers a ‘light’ or ‘full’ version. The light version is best for slow internet connections but does not offer as many features as the full version. Safari and Firefox runs the light version of OWA.
Microsoft provides OWA as part of the Exchange Server, allowing users to connect remotely via a Web browser such as Internet Explorer. OWA offers most of the same functionality as Outlook 2003. It looks very similar, and, crucially, lets you see the same e-mail, calendaring, address books, etc. as you would see when using Outlook on your office PC. This means you can keep in touch when you are off-campus – OWA can be used from Internet cafés and any other location that provides internet access .
Outlook Web Access is Microsoft’s web-based email application that includes many features of the desktop Microsoft Outlook application. With OWA, you can use a web browser to access your HCC student email from any Windows or Macintosh computer with an Internet connection. OWA opens in a window within your browser; therefore, your web browser toolbar remains on the top of your screen and the OWA toolbar is at the top of its window.
If you have an Exchange account at Indiana University, you can use Outlook Web Access (OWA) to access your Exchange mailbox over the Internet using a web browser. OWA provides basic email functionality through a web interface to a secure site, allowing you to read your email from anywhere in the world without having to reconfigure a browser or email client software.
