What is out of school care for the 3 & 4 year old age group?
A 3 or 4 year old will usually attend school for much shorter sessions. For this age group the out of school facility can be before or after the session, as long as there is no time gap between the schooling and the care. This means that, in the case of 3 & 4 year olds attending an early years education place in a nursery or pre-school playgroup in the morning or afternoon, out of school care provides care that wraps around (before, after, or a bit of both) either the morning or afternoon session. These early education places could be state or privately funded.
