What is our commitment to authenticity and quality?
A. We are committed to historic quality. Our town architect is Dr. Durham Crout, PhD. Durham has a professional career spanning 30 plus years including professorship that focused on historic and traditional design. We are serious about historically accurate massing and proportions. We are equally serious about authentic materials. We use local artisans that include 3rd generation stonemasons, timber framers, and blacksmiths. We have created signature-building techniques that include special antiquing of every log timber, rusticating cabin wood floors, and hand-hewing various structural timbers throughout the cabin. We have recreated historic hardware with local blacksmiths. We integrate timbers cut and milled from our own property and purchase stone from mountains and valley quarries all within an hour of Cloudland Station.
