What is OSIs role as the Provincial Statistical Focal Point?
The OSI will facilitate the exchange of information with Statistics Canada, communicate the Province’s statistical needs to Statistics Canada, and represent the Province on Statistics Canada’s Federal-Provincial-Territorial Consultative Council on Statistical Policy. The OSI will collaborate with other Government of Alberta Ministries in carrying out provincial statistical responsibilities. In doing so, the Minister responsible for the OSI or his/her designate within the OSI has the authority to appoint Government of Alberta officials to each of the subcommittees reporting to the Federal-Provincial Territorial-Consultative Council on Statistical Policy.
