What is Orange doing about the visual impact of phone masts?
The design, position and quantity of our phone masts depend on factors such as the local landscape, the number of people living in an area and the demand for our services. We try and give the best service to our customers with the least possible impact on the environment. We’re sensitive to concerns about the impact of our network on rural and urban environments, and recognise the need to balance demands for efficient coverage with these concerns and our environmental responsibilities. We actively engage with local communities and regulatory authorities both informally and as part of the formal planning process. Wherever possible we share sites with other operators or use existing structures. Where appropriate, we sometimes use special designs for our phone masts, camouflaging them to appear as lamp-posts or trees.
