Online education courses allow university students in degree programs the flexibility to study at home, at work, or while traveling the world, according to your own schedule — there are no classes to attend. Online education courses are taken online via the World Wide Web. This innovative format creates a highly interactive, engaging and supportive learning environment.
Online learning enables interested students to enroll in university courses without the necessity of traveling to the university campus at set times. Online learning involves connecting to the World Wide Web to obtain content material, retrieve and submit assignments and have discussions with classmates and teachers. Participation in online courses occurs asynchronously allowing students to complete all class work independently and still participate personally with instructors and classmates.
Online learning uses a Web-based course management system to deliver course instruction. A limited number of courses are available entirely online. Students interact with classmates and instructors through discussion boards and virtual classrooms. Students have access 24/7 to course materials, and have the luxury of completing work at times convenient for them. Workload for online courses is comparable to classes held on campus. Course assignments and readings are at the master’s level work. Students should access their online site and complete work 3-4 times each week. It is important to keep up with the workload each week, as it is impossible to make up missed online discussions. Internet access is required for courses that use online learning. All of the PPS courses use Moodle as this links to the Technology standard required by the CCTC. Moodle is also used for courses that are held on campus. Help with Moodle is available online.
