The GED test battery consists of five separate tests. Three of the tests cover specific areas such as literature, social studies, and science. One of the tests covers mathematics including, but not limited to, basic math concepts, geometry and basic algebra. The mathematics test has two sections. In one section a calculator is available for use. For the writing test, the student must complete a multiple-choice section covering grammar and punctuation and write an essay on a given topic.
