What is olive skin?
Olive skin is typically indicated by a slightly beige skin tone with some yellowish undertones. People with Mediterranean, Mid-European, or Scandinavian backgrounds often have olive skin. Adaptation might be a reason for this, since those areas often have more sunlight and temperature extremes than other parts of the world. Typically, people with olive-toned skin have dark blond to black hair, with any kind of eye color. Blemishes are typically hidden by olive complexions, unless the blemishes themselves contain darker contrasting pigment. While people with pale skin typically have a difficult time getting a tan, people who have olive skin can tan easily because they have more melanin in their skin. This does not, however, mean that an olive complexion is immune to skin problems because of prolonged ultraviolet (UV) light exposure. In both olive and fair skin, UV light exposure can deplete the skin’s natural moisture, and long-term exposure can ultimately result in cancer.
