What is Oil Mounting?

Oil mounting has long been accepted as the standard for adhering images either negative or transparent positives (slides) to the drum for superior scan results. Each image is mounted to the drum utilizing special tape and oil that will help to minimize scratches, film emulsion imperfections, and film grain. Upon completion of scanning, each image is cleaned and placed back in its original container. There is no permanent residue from oil mounting and absolutely no risk of damage to any film original.
