NYSE and NASDAQ are different in their operations and the securities they trade in. AMEX does not normally deal with the blue chip companies and more oriented towards the small and medium enterprises. A mutual fund on the other hand is a professionally managed firm of collective investments which pools money from many investors and then invests in stocks, bonds, money market instruments, and other such securities.
