What is nutritional therapy?
The aim of nutritional therapy is to encourage healthy eating patterns and habits and promote the right combination and intake of nutrients to meet our individual requirements. The starting point is an analysis of the nutritional needs. Age, gender, current diet, state of health and medical history are taken into account along with other lifestyle factors. While there are some general principles that apply to us all, individual health and lifestyle circumstances may put heavier demands on our bodies. Unless we match those demands with consumption of adequate amounts of the right nutrients, we are likely to function at less than our optimum level. Many conditions, including common complaints such as high blood pressure, allergies and digestive problems, may all respond to changes in the intake and balance of the nutrients that we consume.
