Nuclear DNA testing targets the DNA found within the nucleus of the cell. This type of DNA is inherited one half from the mother and one half from the father. Locations (loci) within the nuclear DNA have repeating segments of base pairs called Short Tandem Repeats or STRs. The number of repeated segments varies among humans. STR testing is carried out on a variety of biological samples such as blood, hair roots, bone, teeth, saliva and semen. Our laboratory can process a wide range of samples for STR analysis.
