What is normal after surgery and what is not?
Typically she’ll just need to rest – probably in bed for the first couple of days but she’ll be able to get up and about if she feels up to it. I was told to avoid anything strenuous for at least a week. Here nose will probably feel very congested for a couple of days so she’ll be uncomfortable from that. She won’t be able to blow her nose for at least a week, and the doctor may want her to irrigate using salt water after 24 hours or so to help get any drainage/dried blood out of her sinuses. She’ll probably have a prescription for painkillers for the first couple of days so those may keep her pretty groggy (although I never had that much pain after the surgery, just something akin to a mild headache for the first 36 hours or so). I didn’t need a special pillow or anything like that – although having a couple of pillows to help keep her head elevated would be a good idea because there will be junk draining down the back of her throat. I also remember eating mostly crackers, etc. – didn
