When any corporate benefits are announced by a company, the Exchanges set up a no delivery period and the trades done during such period are settled at the end on the Non-Delivery period on ex-basis.

No-delivery period consist of start date and end date. In this period trading can be done but the settlement happens only after the end date, here end date is considered as the trade day plus 2 days more for the settlement of shares or funds.
