What is NJROTC all about?
Navy Junior Reserve Officer Training School (NJROTC) sounds like Navy Reserve Officer Training School (NROTC), however there are several key differences. NROTC is a college level program that in many cases offers a scholarship to cover tuition and fees but incurs a four year commitment in the U.S. Navy following graduation from college. NJROTC is a high school level elective that is sponsored by the Navy and the local school board. There are over 50 NJROTC units in the state of Georgia. Participation in NJROTC in no way leads to military service, but rather seeks to assist students become more informed and responsible citizens and high school students who have a better appreciation for the importance of goal setting, personal self-discipline, time management, and interpersonal teambuilding and leadership skills.
