What is NFPA 101?
NFPA 101 is known as the Life Safety Code and is developed by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA). The Code addresses those construction, protection, and occupancy features necessary to minimize danger to life from fire, including smoke, fumes, or panic. This includes egress facilities and other non-fire emergency related egress. This standard, like UL 924, directly addresses issues of exit sign construction, visibility, and use.
