What is NewsTrust?
NewsTrust is a nonprofit social news site whose goal is to find and share good journalism online — and help citizens make more informed decisions about their lives and governments. We believe that a well-informed, news-literate public is the foundation of a healthy democracy. With that in mind, NewsTrust offers an integrated online service, which includes a quality news filter, media literacy tools and a trust network. Our NewsTrust website features a daily feed of news and opinion from mainstream and independent sources, based on ratings from our reviewers. We rate the news based on quality, not just popularity. Our Web review tools enable our members to evaluate fairness, evidence, sourcing and other core journalistic principles. We launched our first public website for NewsTrust in November 2006, and an upgraded version of the site in September 2008.
