What is New York Chapter and how did it come into existence?
New York Chapter (hereinafter referred as ‘Chapter’) is the official representation of The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (hereinafter referred as ICAI) in the United States. Its establishment was initiated by CA Rakesh Kumar Jain as a volunteer. New York Chapter of ICAI was established under the State Laws of New York as a non-profit entity by filing Certificate of Incorporation with the Department of State on 9th April 2008. Subsequent to this, ICAI approved Chapter’s formation in 278th Central Council meeting of ICAI held during 13th – 15th May 2008 and recognized it as its 20th overseas Chapter around the globe. New York Chapter was officially inaugurated by Hon’ble President of ICAI CA Ved Jain on 24th July 2008 at New India house, 3 East, 64th Street, NY, in the presence of Her Excellency Amb.
