What is New Testament (NT) Worship?
It is difficult to give a precise definition for the NT worship, because the NT doesnt give any such definition and doesnt recommend any procedure for worship. Regarding the NT worship the only available statement is of Jesus Christ who said, God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth. (John 4:21-24). However, this statement doesnt help us in defining worship or in setting a formal procedure for it. Also, nowhere the NT reports how Christians worshiped God in the early Church. However, speaking to Corinthians, Paul says that an unbelieving visitor in their church, when convinced, may fall down on his face and worship God (1 Cor 14:25, NKJV). From this verse can we conclude that in the early church, believers too fell down on their face to worship God? There are many questions that need to be answered: Do we need to fall down when worshiping God? What does it mean to worship in spirit? Do we worship only on Sundays?
