What is neodymium, and how are the magnets made?
Neodymium magnets are actually made up of three elements: neodymium, iron and boron. This powdered mixture is pressed under great force into molds. Then the material is heated under a vacuum, cooled, and ground or sliced into the preferred shape. A coating is applied, and finally, the blank magnets are exposed to a very powerful magnetic field greater than 30 KOe, magnetizing them.
