What is Neighborhood Housing Services of Chicago, Inc. (NHS)?
NHS is a nonprofit housing organization established in 1975 to offer Chicago residents affordable resources for buying, maintaining, and keeping their homes. NHS partners with neighborhood residents, financial institutions, insurance companies, the City of Chicago, block clubs, corporations and foundations to help working families become homeowners and to protect and preserve their single biggest investmenttheir home. What does NHS do? Through Neighborhood Lending Services, Inc., borrowers in Chicago who want to purchase a home, fix up their home, or refinance and fix up their home can obtain affordable loans. NHS offers free homeownership education classes in several locations each week. NHS Homeownership Consultants work with individual homebuyers to help them get ready to purchase and to get pre-approved for financing with a good loan.
