What is Negative Water Proofing system and why it is called so?
Normally, water proofing is done from outside of the buildings and the source of incoming water is closed, so that, water seepage is avoided. This is done through coating, like Polymeric and Elastomeric coatings etc. Some times, when plastering is loosened, this is also changed. There are some cases, where it is not possible for a single flat owner and some times even for the house owner to reach the water seepage point and block the seepage. The typical case may be taken for a multi-storied building, which is 20 floors high and in the 18th floor flat, there is seepage. Some times, the source of water is also from the 19th floor toilets. In these cases, if the water seepage is stopped in to the walls of 18th floor flat, by doing the treatment, then the water proofing treatment done inside walls of 18th floor flat will be called as NEGATIVE WATER PROOFING.
