What is Negative Reinforcement?
Negative Reinforcement is a type of conditioning/training where something is taken away from a subject (dog/human etc.) after a behavior is displayed, thus; increasing the frequency in which the particular behavior is displayed. Negative Reinforcement lies in one of the quadrants of Operant Conditioning. All Negative Reinforcement start out as Positive Punishment. Example of Negative Reinforcement: Releasing the pressure on a collar when a dog does something you like. Dog Language: When I do not do the things that my guardian wants me to do he/she does something that I do not like. As soon as I listen to my guardian the unpleasant thing goes away. I will not be doing any of that again.
