What is Nasscom doing to encourage/establish rural BPOs?
Our purpose is to find out the companies who can do this. Many companies started this as an experiment or maybe as a CSR activity. Many companies have done it by taking their own work into rural areas. Here’s me, it’s my company, if I take a little more time and it is the right quality then I will take the risk. Then they will take risk with the external customer. Nasscom would encourage and publicise it. We would ask them to come forward and share their experiences. The next step for us would be to work with the local governments once it all starts getting robust. Do you think companies can learn from their previous experiences while establishing BPOs in rural areas? Yes, we have been on a learning curve. And obviously that showed over time. The curve has been pretty rapid. When we set up second, third or fourth centres we have always learnt from the previous experiences.
