What is my risk of bleeding while I am on anticlotting (antiplatelet) medicine?
Although no one can say for sure exactly what your personal risk is for bleeding on these medicines, studies suggest that the risk is relatively low. One study of 3759 patients taking aspirin and clopidogrel for 18 months found that 3 out of 100 patients experienced life-threatening bleeding. In another study, life-threatening bleeding occurred in 1 out of 100 patients who took low-dose aspirin alone.
