For a physician or other practitioner, the User ID and password for PECOS are the same as the User ID and password that were established for the National Plan and Provider Enumeration System (NPPES) when the physician or other practitioner applied for a National Provider Identifier (NPI). If the physician or other practitioner did not establish an NPPES User ID and password when obtaining an NPI (i.e., he or she applied for an NPI using the paper NPI application form), he or she may establish one now by going to NPPES. If assistance is needed to retrieve a User ID or password, please contact the NPI Enumerator at 1-800-465-3203.
