What is my nationality/citizenship status?

The year you were born would be more helpful. If you were born in the UK before January 1983 then you are automatically a British citizen – British, not English, you’ll find it difficult to apply for an English passport they don’t exist If you were born after January 1983 then you can only claim British citizenship if your parent(s) were British citizens or considered to be permanently settled (in possession of Indefinite Leave to Remain) at the time of your birth. If you were born after January 1983 I suggest you ask your parents what their legal status meant & if you were entitled to British citizenship, it was probably something they looked into at the time. Given that they are Canadian citizens if you were born after January 1983 & you are entitled British citzienship you’ll also have to produce their certificates of Right to Abode.
