The kilometres you travelled for part of the FBT year are annualised i.e.: apportioned to see what you would have travelled assuming the same usage for the full FBT year. BACK For example, if you picked up a new car, with an opening odometer of four (4) km’s on 1 October and your closing odometer reading on 31 March (the following year) was 12,550 kilometres, then: 12,546 x 365 (number of days in FBT year) ⁄ 182 (number of days vehicle was leased) = 25,160 kilometres therefore, the 11% statutory percentage would apply.
