What is my commencing salary likely to be?
Graduates employed in public or private diagnostic laboratories come under the award conditions for Medical Scientists. On initial appointment, they will usually start on Year 2 of the Grade 1 Medical Scientists salary scale. In 2005-2006, the commencing salary was in the order of $39,500-$41,000. Graduates employed under different industrial awards may receive a lower salary than this. If you are in a position that involves a shift roster, additional allowances are paid.
