Multifactor Authentication is the process of using more than one set of criteria as a validation mechanism to authenticate user access. Multifactor authentication is the process of using multiple factors of information from both logical and physical sources to determine the authenticity of an individual transaction. Typical factors include: something you know (typically a user name, password, or PIN) and something you have (typically a physical token such as a magstripe card or smartcard) or something you are (typically a biometric feature such as fingerprint.)
