What is multicast? Is it for multiple users use?
I would like to talk about what is multicast before talk about how to use Multicast with VIVOTEK camera. Multicast is a one-to-many transmission technology. It’s an efficient way to deliver a single stream of live data to, in theory, unlimited number recipients at the same time. Instead of sending 1000 streams of information to 1000 users, it sends only one stream of audio, video, or data. The single stream will then be delivered to unlimited number of users via dedicated multicast routers dispersed throughout the Internet. So if you enable multicast item on Network page of the camera, which means the camera support multicast. Anyone in the same local area network can choose to use multicast method to link to the camera. You can just go to the client settings page and choose multicast for protocol options.
