What is MRSA, or Hospital Acquired Infections?

0

MRSA usually occurs in hospital. The “SA” part of MRSA is short for staphylococcus aureus which is a bacteria that normally safely lives on your skin and does not cause any problems. However, if you have any open wound surgery or when your resistance is low due to illness and you are given methicillin, or another form of antibiotic and the staphylococcus aureus becomes resitant to it. The full meaning of MRSA, therefore, is “methicillin resistant staphylococcus aureus”.
