What is MPCA doing about it?
From 1998 to 2000, the Minnesota Governor and Legislature gave the MPCA special funding to study the frogs. The MPCA worked primarily with researchers and scientists from the University of Minnesota, the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences, the US Geological Survey and also with the National Wildlife Health Center and the U.S. Environmental Protection to investigate the problem. These partners provided extensive chemical and toxicological analysis of the water and sediments, and characterized the internal abnormalities and analyzed parasites and microorganisms. As of July 1, 2001, funding was eliminated for the MPCA to study the frogs. 13.
