There are many different studies on motivation out there and everyone has their own perceptions on and definition of the word “motivation.” Let’s use Mitchell’s study as an example. In a theory about motivation, in which motivation is described by a few characteristics, Mitchell defines motivation as “the degree to which an individual wants and chooses to engage in certain specified behaviors.” So in this concept there is some driving force in individuals that have them try to attempt to achieve a certain goal in order to fulfil a need or expectation.
