The most dreaded kidney disease for any age group is renal failure. Parents should be educated not to neglect fevers, which can lead to treat urinary infections. A mere urine test can reveal the infection. If a urinary infection is detected, test like urine culture, ultrasound evaluation or x-ray can detect the degree of infection. A child must be regularly examined for urinary tract infection, which could occur in both normal child and those born with a congenital disorder. Long-term studies have shown that 10 percent of urinary tract infections lead to renal failure, 13 percent incidence of high blood pressure, and 13 percent incidence of toxemia during pregnancy.
