What is Morris magnetos impulse-coupler magneto?
Magneto contains circuit breaker( points) , rare-earth magnet ,camshaft ,small ignition coil in one unit. and It’s driven by camshaft or calibrated gears. Since spark was generated by magnetism, Faster it spins,More hotter spark it generates. o magneto doesn’t have an automatic advance mechanism, It’s fixed ignition timing at advance position. Morris Magneto’s impulse-coupler is a spring-loaded mechanism that holds magneto camshaft just to retard ignition timing which helps starting dramatically at very slow rotation speed, and lets spring-wound cam shaft and magnet spins real fast to generate hot spark.Once engine starts, this Impulse-coupler wouldn’t engage at all. This is well-engineered design. Morris Magneto also offers manual retard/auto advance unit. One quick tip for Impulse-coupler magneto if you are running kicker only, don’t kick like conventional magneto. This actually make harder to start. It’s more like pushing kicker thru rather than kicking.
