Early pregnancy is usually considered the first trimester or first three months of the pregnancy. (A typical pregnancy lasts nine months.) During this time great care must be taken to follow a proper diet, visit a doctor regularly and be careful not to engage in any behavior which may harm a developing fetus, such as smoking or drinking alcohol, as you should during all stages of pregnancy.
