What is more expensive, widescreen monitors or standard screen monitor of same size and brand?
In general, the standard screen monitors are slightly more expensive.I think this is because they cover a larger area than the equivalent widescreen. For example, a 20 inch standard screen covers approximately 192 square inches. But a 20 inch widescreen only covers about 171 square inches. So you pay more for the bigger viewable area.
Prices are round and about the same, as the hight of a 22″ widescreen monitor for example is the same as the hight of a normal 20″ monitor, so the difference in screen size is in the width in this case. If you would compare a 22″ widescreen monitor with a normal 22″ monitor, then the lack of width is compensated in the hight. Therefore the prices for monitors are not that different. More and more monitors are only available in widescreen format, therefore I would not advise anymore to purchase a normal monitor.
