What is more Ductile Cast Iron or Steel? Why?

0

Based on the treatment ,ductility is to decided for the materials. Generally Steel is more ductile and cast iron is brittle( Treatments changes cast iron into ductile) Cast Iron is brittle bacause of presence of graphite flakes acts as stress notches during operation. The graphite formation in castiron and not in Steel because of presence of more amount of silicon. This silicon content only converts the Cementite(Fe3C) into Ferrite and Graphite. But in Steel ,its not like that, based on the percentage of carbon, cementite content will increase results in increase in hardness.
