What is more dangerous, cat or dog rabies?
Cat and dog rabies are equally dangerous. However, cat bites are often regarded as more dangerous since 80% of cat bites become infected as opposed to 18% only of dog bites. The reason why cat bites get more easily infected has nothing to do with rabies but because they often result in puncture wounds, which are difficult to clean, and are located in the hands, which makes it more prone to infections. Dog bites, on the other hand, while they may seem worse due to the outside damage, do not get as easily infected since they are usually not too deep.
