What is moonlighting?

0

Moonlighting is practice of taking on a second job or activity, usually on top of a regular full time job. Many consultants got started by doing moonlight contracts as a starting point before making it their main business instead of an employee job. You should check your contract of employment: this may entitle your employers to benefit from work that you do outside working hours (such as patents and copyrights) or it may prevent you from doing any work that your employer regards as competition. Most universities and colleges now have employment contracts that regulate outside consultancy. Also, if you leave/terminate your employment, check to see if your employment contract has restrictions on what you do and where for some time after you leave employment to become a consultant.
