What is Mobitex ?

0

A. Mobitex is national, open standard, packet-switched, narrowband PCS network, designed for wide-area wireless data communications. The Mobitex network operates in the 900 MHz frequency range. Mobitex networks are operated by service providers such as Cingular Interactive in the United States, Rogers AT&T Wireless in Canada and others in Asia, Australia, Europe, and South America. Mobitex is the de facto international standard for wireless data communications with networks operating in 22 countries. Unlike the more familiar “circuit-switched” networks used in telephones, the Mobitex radio is always “on” and ready to send or receive wireless data. This “always on” feature offers many advantages over circuit-switched networks.
