What is minimum age for working for teens (Australia)?

The minimum age is actually 14 years and 9 months (so almost 15). Fact is, there are many people who school is “not for them”… if you don’t fit the normal student mould, then it’s useless staying in school until the age of 17. In many trade occupations, it’s still preferable to leave school at age 15 – and attend TAFE or technical college instead. We still need plumbers and electricians, AND there is a shortage of them in Australia now. If you have a job to go to, there is no use wasting time by continuing school. No subject in school will teach you more about the “outside world” than employment – and some people are suited to working rather than studying. The only people who really NEED to complete school to age 17, are those interested in going to university. For all others, it’s a personal choice. At age 14 and 9 months, you can also obtain a part-time job (after school, weekends and in holidays). You are considered a junior, and your minimum wage is dependant on the award field y
