What is mental health insurance parity?

0

This insurance parity requires identical health insurance coverage for mental as well as physical illnesses. The identical limitations regarding deductibles, hospital stays or treatment for a heart condition would be required for mental illness treatment as well. Since 2001, 8 million+ Federal employees & their dependents have full mental health insurance parity in their insurance program. Legislation exists in Congress which would mandate this coverage in all groups of 50+ employees which provide a mental health insurance benefit. The Republican majority leadership in Congress has refused to bring this legislation up for full consideration & a vote.
