what is meningoencephalitis?
meningitis encephalitis difference diagnosis treatment i would like to know the difference between terms: meningitis, encephalitis, menigoencephalitis and encephalomeningitis. Thanks The mininges works as a bood-brain barrier, so, just the meninges involves in many cases of meningitis (change of CSF) and the brain is intact (no conscious alteration, no convulsion/paralysis). Thus, we must use the term “meningitis” instead of “encephalomeningitis”. In fact, the term “encephalomeningitis” should be used in case of meningitis (change in CSF) accompanied with conscious alteration or convulsion/paralysis status (that the brain is involved). In the same logic, the term “encephalitis” should be used in cases of conscious alteration or convulsion/paralysis with the normal CSF (that the mininges are intact). And the term “meningoencephalitis” mean “encephalitis” accompanied by the change of CSF.
