What is medicinal chemistry?
Medicinal chemistry is a multi- and inter-disciplinary branch of chemistry and involves (1) the design and synthesis of chemical compounds with potential biological activity, and (2) the elucidation of the chemical, physical, and structural factors which contributes to their biological response. Research is not limited to design and synthesis, but may also include studies, which apply molecular approaches to the elucidation of biological mechanisms.
