When an FPL/FP is filed through AFTN/NADIN, ERAS checks FPL/FP fields for information on equipage, requested route, requested procedures, etc. It uses that information to determine whether to assign conventional routes/procedures or RNAV preferential routes (RNAV SID/STAR/PTP).
